George Washington chose the original of this bedspread for his bride. The original weave was lost when textile machinery replaced skilled weaves, but Bates Manufacturing had recaptured the weaving art and former Bates employees continue this tradition. This bedspread has also been labeled “George Washington’” and “America’s First”, but the classic weave and texture has remained throughout its lifetime. Martha Washington’s Choice is finished with a knotted string fringe and is available in a variety of colors. This pattern is also available in coverlet sizes.
